Having “changed” the car in the cold season, with summer tires, you can go to a car center offering services for seasonal storage of rubber. For the “maintenance” of a set for four wheels you will have to pay an average of 500 rubles a month. If this does not suit you, prepare and store the tires yourself for the winter, using the recommendations of experienced drivers.

Necessary

  • - aerosol preservative;
  • - covers or boxes;
  • - storage room, garage or shed.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, make sure the tires are dry and clean. Spray rubber with a preservative spray that contains oxidation inhibitors to slow down the aging process of tires.

Step 2

Buy covers for each tire or special boxes for storing tires that do not wrinkle them and do not let in light. Try to keep gasoline, paint, oils, and similar liquids away from you.

Step 3

It is recommended to leave the tires under a canopy in the air for no more than a month. It is impossible to store rubber outdoors due to temperature and relative humidity fluctuations in the environment.

Step 4

Do not keep rubber on the balcony: it will smell unpleasant and, moreover, may suffer from frost. Store tires in a dry, dark and cool place - in a closet, shed or garage (but not a metal shell!). The room must be free of dust, dirt, etc.! In addition, it is advisable to air it from time to time.

Step 5

During the "rest period", do not move the tires or put heavy things on them so that the rubber does not deform. Better to put the tires, as they do in stores and warehouses. If the tires are suspended from the wall, turn them over about once every two weeks.

Step 6

It is better to lay wheels with disks in a "well" - horizontally on a flat surface. When storing wheels with rims, do not increase or decrease the pressure in the tires.

Step 7

Before storing summer tires, do not forget to check the expiration date. Each wheel is marked. The first number is the week, and the second is the year of issue. Pay attention to the suitability of the tire. Typically, a tire will perform well for five years.
