Some car enthusiasts buy convertibles because of the kind of romance that hovers around this type of car, but romance and a sense of freedom should not cloud common sense, because convertibles have a huge number of disadvantages compared to covered cars.

For a start, it is worth noting the material side, which does not speak in favor of the convertible. If you look at the catalogs in car dealerships, you will notice that the cost of some convertible cars is up to 30% higher than the price of the cars on the basis of which they were created.
When buying a convertible, few people think about possible colds from driving without a roof, although it is already clear that even at a speed of 50 km / h any cracks will begin to let the wind through. Of course, it's fair to say that many manufacturers have been solving this shortcoming for a long time, but, as a rule, due to additional aerodynamic approaches.
It is even theoretically impossible to defeat a draft in general, but if you decide to buy a convertible, then get used to closing the glove compartment and, if necessary, catching objects flying out of the car.
In convertibles, there is the threat of dust baths, combined with sunstroke. As for sunstroke, many drivers, after watching Hollywood films, travel without wearing a cap or hat, which can lead to loss of consciousness at any time. But with regards to dust, which is an integral companion on any road, within the city, each owner of a convertible will additionally enrich his face with soot and exhaust gases. As you can easily understand, this is not very good for health, as well as for beauty, since the aforementioned cocktail will easily destroy even the most thoughtful makeup.
Of course, these are far from all the disadvantages of convertible cars, in addition, one can note the lack of a trunk, low ground clearance and a heavier weight of the car, which is explained by the need to strengthen the bottom, but even based on the above nuances, it becomes obvious that buying a convertible is not the best idea.
