The dashboard of any car is equipped with a light indication that allows you to easily monitor the status of various systems. The design and placement of dashboard lamps may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the value remains the same.
Dashboard: warning lamps
- Control lamp for headlight beam tilt adjuster. It is triggered when the regulator malfunctions.
- Alert for electrical circuit failure of airbag systems or belt pretensioners.
- When the ignition is turned on, a reminder lamp comes on in some cars to remind you to fasten your seat belts.
- Brake control lamp. Its operation indicates an active parking brake or a low level of working fluid in the GTZ reservoir.
- In diesel cars, when the engine preheat system is triggered, a warning lamp with a spring pattern comes on.
- Activation of the warning lamp of the cooling system while driving indicates a malfunction in it, however, the car can move in emergency mode.
Instrument panel warning lamps
The charge control lamp turns on when the ignition is turned on and normally after starting it should turn off quickly. If it continues to burn, you need to stop, turn off the ignition and check the reliability of the terminals in the generator, whether the drive belts are well tensioned and whether the mounting bolts are tightened.
Also, when the ignition is turned on, the engine control lamp comes on briefly. Prolonged activity of this lamp indicates a malfunction of any part of the engine, or the system for reducing the toxicity of exhaust gases.
The oil pressure in the engine is monitored by a lamp with an oil can. Turning it on while driving should cause an alarm - an urgent need to check the oil level and diagnose the engine. The fuel control lamp in the tank works in the same way.
Instrument panel information lamps
Information lamps allow you to find out about the operation of the corresponding systems: fog lamps or high beam headlights, foggy rear lamps, left and right turn signals, traction control or anti-skid system. In addition, the dashboard of some vehicles is equipped with decorative instrument lights.
