Traffic lights regulate traffic and the right to pass or cross the road, as a rule, they are located at intersections or pedestrian crossings. Currently, two types of traffic lights are used - transport and pedestrian. Both drivers and pedestrians must obey traffic lights to avoid accidents.
Instructions
Step 1
Horizontal and vertical traffic lights can be seen on the roads. As a rule, they consist of three sections for the main traffic signals - red, yellow, green, but there may be additional sections to indicate the turn at the green signal level.
Step 2
The traffic light allows traffic on a green signal, prohibits - on yellow and red. But the yellow signal is special, it warns that now the red will light up. If the driver at this moment does not have time to brake without applying emergency braking, he can pass at the yellow traffic light. But only if it does not endanger other drivers or pedestrians.
Step 3
If it is necessary to pass the green signal of the additional section, sometimes it is necessary to give way to vehicles traveling on the main road or to the main traffic light.
Step 4
If the traffic light is constantly blinking amber, follow the priority signs. For example, if there is a “Give way” or “No non-stop” sign, stop at a stop line or the edge of the carriageway and let traffic on the main road pass.
Step 5
If a traffic light flashes amber on a regulated pedestrian, stop to allow pedestrians to pass before continuing.
Step 6
When turning right or left, if there is a traffic light on the adjacent road, pay attention to the markings. When making a turn, make sure that there is no stop line and no red traffic light on the road, otherwise you must stop. If there is no stop line, even with a prohibitory signal, you can continue driving, having previously skipped pedestrians.
Step 7
When passing a traffic light regulating a level crossing, stop at the flashing red light. At the same time, it can be accompanied by a sound signal and the raising of the barrier. In this case, stop two meters from the barrier, unless the other is marked with a stop line.
