There are few nuances in the matter of the CTP policy. Our legislation clearly defines its ownership and use. But there are situations when it is simply impossible to issue a car insurance policy quickly. But even in this case, traffic rules will come to the aid of the car owner.

Traffic rules to help

In fact, an OSAGO policy must be issued within 10 days after buying a car or before registering a car. If you buy a car in a showroom, there are no problems with insurance. Insurance agents will make it for you on the same day, and you will leave the car dealership with a clear conscience.

But what about those who buy a car on the secondary market, inherited it or under a donation agreement. It is often not possible to take out insurance on the spot. Although now insurance agents can go to the place of registration of the transaction or immediately make an electronic policy. But so far the electronic policy has no legal force, and the traffic police officer will have the right to fine you. Moreover, before taking out insurance, you will first have to conclude a purchase and sale agreement. Now such an agreement is drawn up by the parties to the transaction on their own on the spot on a form that is downloaded from the Internet.

After the purchase and sale agreement is drawn up, the new owner has ten days to issue a new OSAGO policy. Only there is no need to delay this process at all. If the inspector stops you, you will have to show the contract, on the basis of which you ride without insurance. And the traffic police officer will have the right to conduct an additional check for the legal "cleanliness" of your car.

Now on the roads, a new method is gradually being implemented to identify cars that do not have a motor vehicle liability policy. CCTV cameras will record such cars. And there, as you know, it doesn't matter when you bought the car. The fine will come in any case and it will have to be challenged already in the traffic police department.

And if you get into an accident, you will have to pay for the damage yourself. And here no law about ten days without insurance will help. You will not be allowed to register a car without a policy either. The presence of OSAGO insurance is a prerequisite for registering vehicles.

Registration rules

What if you buy a car from a private person? You can ask the owner of the car to enter you into the current insurance in advance, before the purchase and pay all costs. This is beneficial if the OSAGO is "fresh", it was done relatively recently. You can do the same with CASCO, if available.

The second option: you immediately after the purchase (or during) send the data to your insurance agent, and he makes you an electronic policy. You can immediately print such a policy by asking the seller if the transaction takes place near his house. Or walk to the nearest photo service, where you can usually print electronic documents.
