If you hear a knock from the front wheel while driving, be aware: the ball joints are asking for replacement, at least the upper ones. The lower ones do not knock like that, but they should also be replaced. How to remove the ball?
Instructions
Step 1
It is required to remove the wheel. It is necessary to unscrew the wheels for convenience. When working with the wheel on the right - all the way to the right, with the left wheel - to the left.
Step 2
For insurance, put a "goat" under the car. A wooden block can be placed under the lower arm to relieve the undercarriage. Using a jack, lower the vehicle onto it.
Step 3
Using an open-end wrench, unscrew the nuts. They hold the fingers of the ball joints. It is required to ensure that the height of the jack is optimal for the passage of the key between the spring structure.
Step 4
When the nut is unscrewed, knock out the finger. Using a hammer, hit not on the finger, but on the area slightly lower. After a few strokes, the ball joint pin will come out.
Step 5
Unscrew the lower ball joint, i.e. the nut that holds the finger. Knock out the bottom with a ball hammer in the same area just below the finger. After it comes out, tighten the nut.
Step 6
Diagnose the ball joints without removing from the lever. You can start unscrewing the ball levers. Use two wrenches - a regular and a ratchet. The ball joint is removed.
