For many people, the car has become a second home. Therefore, car enthusiasts are trying to make the interior of the car special. The new instrument panel illumination not only gives the interior of the car an updated look, but also allows the driver to navigate faster in the road situation.
Necessary
- - about 30 LEDs and resistances to them;
- - nippers;
- - knife;
- - screwdriver;
- - a piece of plastic;
- - awl or drill;
- - soldering iron.
Instructions
Step 1
Start by removing the dashboard. Take care of the main lights first and don't forget the lamp holders, which also need to be removed. Gently pry the speedometer arrows with a flat screwdriver or knife and pull towards you. After the arrows begin to come out of the grooves, pull them out in a circular motion. Do not use force, arrow mounts are very fragile and crack quickly. As practice shows, it will not be possible to replace them separately; you will have to buy a complete speedometer.
Step 2
After the arrows, remove the plexiglass insert. Patience is also required here. It is necessary to tear off the insert by prying it with a knife. The sticky layer on the inside of the plexiglass must remain clean, free of impurities and dirt. To do this, place the insert face down in a plastic bag. This is important, if these conditions are not met, then problems may arise during assembly.
Step 3
Now take a piece of plastic and make a new base for the dashboard. Measure the required mounting surface. Armed with special scissors or wire cutters, cut the plastic to size, mark the holes for the LEDs and the arrow mounts. After marking the holes and making sure they are correct, use a hot awl or thin drill to make holes in the plastic. Install LEDs and resistances. Observing polarity, solder in series. It is important to observe the polarity.
Step 4
After installing and soldering the LEDs, apply power to the panel. In this case, do not exceed the value of 12v. Unevenly burning LEDs indicate a polarity violation during installation or a marriage of the part itself. Correct the problem and then repeat the check procedure. If everything is working as usual, reassemble the dashboard, being careful when attaching the plexiglass and speedometer arrows.
