The comfort of a car ride depends on the shock absorbers. They are necessary to damp vibrations when driving on an uneven surface. There are enough bad roads, so high-quality shock absorbers on the car are a guarantee of a high degree of comfort.

Necessary

  • - keys set;
  • - penetrating lubricant;
  • - a set of new shock absorbers;
  • - wheel chocks;
  • - jack.

Instructions

Step 1

Decide which shock absorbers will be replaced first. If on the front suspension, install wheel chocks under the rear wheels. If on the rear suspension, then place the stops under the front wheels. Replacing the front shock absorbers is carried out on a pit or overpass. If there is neither the first nor the second, then you can set the machine on soft ground and make a small depression under the lower arms. The depth of the hole should be approximately 20-30 centimeters. It will allow you to remove the shock absorber from the seat.

Step 2

Open the hood of the VAZ-2107 car. It is necessary to unscrew the nut from the shock absorber. With a key for 8, you need to hold the stem from turning. The nut is unscrewed using a 17 spanner spanner. Remove the metal washers and rubber cushions. The latter must be replaced together with the shock absorber. Press the stem down using a screwdriver or other suitable tool. Now you need to unscrew the nuts securing the shock absorber to the lower suspension arm.

Step 3

Loosen and remove the two nuts that secure the shock absorber bracket to the arm. The rack will go down, but may rest against the surface. To remove it, you need to fully insert the stem into the shock absorber. There is no need to remove the wheel, just twist the steering wheel to the side for convenience. It is necessary to remove the bracket from the old stand and install it on the new part. Along the way, replace all rubber bushings. Removal and installation of shock absorbers on both sides of the front suspension is the same.

Step 4

Jack up the rear of the vehicle if there is no inspection hole or lift. This will make it more convenient to replace. Do not remove both shock absorbers at the same time. Replace first on one side, then on the other. To do the work, you will need two 17 keys. The lower part of the shock absorber is bolted to the suspension elements with a stud. To remove it, it is necessary to set the key to 17 on one side and rest against the wheel or rod. Use the second wrench to unscrew the nut on the other side of the stud.

Step 5

Treat the threaded connections with a penetrating lubricant if the nuts do not give way. The upper part of the shock absorber is attached to the vehicle body. Using a 17 wrench, unscrew the nut that is tightened on the stud for securing the rack. Install rubber bushings on the new shock absorber. Place the top over the stud in the body and tighten the nut. Then slide the bottom into the seat below it. Secure the shock absorber using new nuts, washers and hairpin. The change of the second rack is carried out in the same way.
