Driving a car involves a lot of skills and knowledge. But the most basic is braking. For a correct and quick stopping, there is little good reaction. Precise technical execution plays an important role here. Brake operation is different on machines with "mechanics" or "automatic" and requires the utmost care on slippery roads.
Instructions
Step 1
Braking on a car with manual transmission.
In order to brake on a machine with a manual transmission at the included speed, you must depress the clutch and brake at the same time. The clutch is even pressed a fraction of a second faster than the brake. If you only need to slow down a little, then the clutch is squeezed out to the stop, and the brake only until the desired speed reduction. At a full stop, both the clutch and the brake are squeezed out to the stop. Then the neutral gear is engaged and only after that the pedals are released. If you release the clutch without shifting into neutral, the car will stall. If the car is coasting in neutral gear, then you do not need to squeeze the clutch when braking, only work with the brake pedal. If you need to slow down just a little while in gear, you don't need to squeeze the clutch. But if the car begins to twitch, then the clutch will have to be squeezed out.
Step 2
Braking on a car with automatic transmission.
In order to brake on a car with an automatic transmission, you only need to operate the brake pedal. At a full stop, if you do not want to continue driving, with the brake pedal depressed, shift the gear lever to the P (parking) position. If you continue driving after stopping, then you just need to release the brake pedal and the car will go.
Step 3
Braking on slippery surfaces.
On a slippery winter road, you need to brake more carefully. The main thing is not to overclock too much. When driving at high speed on slippery surfaces, the braking distance is increased. Maintain a distance, maintaining a significant interval between your car and the vehicle in front. Harsh braking can lead to skidding or drifting. It is necessary to brake on ice in several stages: to reduce the speed, to a complete stop. All movements should be smooth. You can apply the so-called "speed braking": without pressing the accelerator pedal, engage a lower gear. The car will hum, may jerk, but will begin to slow down on its own.
