A newcomer who recently obtained a driver's license may feel insecure while driving for a long time and have a fear of getting into an accident. Confident driving is, above all, the result of constant practice and psychological comfort.
Instructions
Step 1
Realize that it is normal to be insecure while driving. As you know, confidence comes only with experience, and in order for this experience to appear, it is important to travel as often as possible. Put a navigator on your car, especially if you live in a metropolis. This will help you quickly navigate the city traffic, not miss the desired turn, and find a relatively free route. Exercise regularly. Try the same route several times at different times - during rush hour and when the road is almost empty - and once you feel confident about the trail, find a new route to master.
Step 2
Sign up for additional courses at a driving school. Driving schools often conduct extreme driving courses or driving under certain conditions (eg ice). Counter-emergency driving training will help you simulate possible difficult situations on the road and teach you how to avoid them. At such a training, you will gain the necessary experience, and with it, confidence will come.
Step 3
Analyze when exactly you feel insecure while driving: in a large flow of cars, when changing lanes or in case of poor familiarity with the road. Perhaps you are tormented by the fear of being the culprit of the accident. Talk to a psychologist or psychotherapist who can help you sort out your fears and tell you how to deal with them. Do not be ashamed of your problem. Oftentimes, the roots of driving insecurity lie in low self-esteem. Therefore, the help of a specialist is necessary in order to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Step 4
Check if you feel comfortable in the car. Are you annoyed by the sound of music, the smell of car air freshener. Are you comfortable in the chair? Sometimes the reasons for uncertainty can lie in elementary discomfort, which can be easily eliminated.
Step 5
Do not get annoyed or nervous if the driver does not follow the rules. Better miss the reckless driver. Do not try to prove that you are right and the other driver is not, if it is not necessary. Believe me, there are no less responsible drivers than inadequate ones. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you suddenly get stuck at an intersection or take a wrong turn and get lost.
Step 6
And remember, no one is immune from mistakes and accidents - neither a driver with many years of experience, nor a green beginner. Don't worry about things that may never happen.
