In the morning, quickly getting ready for work, hurry to the garage where your car is, insert the key into the ignition, and - nothing, the engine will not start. There can be many reasons, and one of them is battery problems.

Instructions

Step 1

Clear signs that the battery on your car is faulty are problems when starting the engine, failure of electrical appliances when the engine is off. It is necessary to decide right away whether repairs are possible. If the battery is modern and maintenance-free, then in the event of its failure (except for violations of the integrity of the case), the battery cannot be repaired. The main reasons causing the failure of the battery are:

1. Improper operation:

• regular checking of the electrolyte level, its density is not performed;

• oxide, dirt is not removed from the inter-element bridges;

• the tightness of tightening and lubrication of the battery terminals is not checked;

• the reliability of the battery fastening is not checked. 2. Permanent recharge.

3. The norm of electrolyte density is not kept.

4. Poor manufacturing of the battery plates.

Step 2

Most often, it is not the entire battery that fails at once, but one or more of its sections (cans). You can identify a failed bank using a load plug. If the voltage at its poles is less than 1.7V and under load it "goes" to zero, mark the faulty bank and change it.

To do this, we cut two inter-element jumpers, remove the mastic between the battery case and the can lid and take it out of the case. We suck the electrolyte out of the battery with a rubber bulb and pour it into a glass container. Do not drain the electrolyte by inverting the battery. This can lead to the fact that the plaster that has been crumbled from the plates during operation, which was previously at the bottom of the case, falls on the plates and thereby closes them. We place the previously prepared serviceable section of the plates into the battery case instead of the removed one, restoring the integrity of the inter-element jumpers. Then we restore the tightness of the case using a conventional electric soldering iron with a metal plate, dressed on a "sting." It is advisable to repeat the charging procedure, having previously discharged the battery after the first charging with an active load.

Step 3

Repairing cracks in the battery case is done with any epoxy-based adhesive. The surface of the crack is pre-cleaned of dust and dirt, degreased, filled with glue. After drying, the battery is ready for use.
