If you didn’t have time to change the summer diesel fuel for the winter one, then in the early frosty morning you may be in for a surprise in the form of frozen diesel fuel in the car. You can defrost diesel fuel using a heat source.
Necessary
- - heat gun;
- - building hair dryer;
- - compressor or hand pump;
- - hot water;
- - bucket;
- - winter diesel fuel;
- - antigel.
Instructions
Step 1
If possible, tow your car to a warm garage. To speed up the defrosting process, install an additional heat gun in the garage.
Step 2
If you do not have the ability to defrost diesel fuel in a garage, then try the following. First blow out the fuel line with a compressor or a hand-held tire pump.
Step 3
Then check the fuel supply. To do this, pump it with a manual priming pump. If the engine does not start, it is necessary to warm up the fuel pump.
Step 4
Warm up the fuel pump and lines. This can be done with hot water or a building hairdryer, if it is possible to connect it to the mains. Some drivers use blowtorches to warm up the engine, which is far from safe. If you decide to use this defrosting method, cover the tank or pump with a sheet of metal, and only then direct the blowtorch fire at it.
Step 5
Warm up the pump and fuel lines, try starting the engine again. If it starts up, wait until it warms up the diesel fuel in the tank. Generate this diesel fuel, and then refuel with winter diesel fuel with antigel added to it. This agent is used to prevent diesel fuel from freezing.
Step 6
Add the purchased antigel to the car tank just before refueling. In this case, the additive mixes better with the diesel fuel.
Step 7
If the engine starts up after warming up the fuel pump and lines and then stalls, then the diesel fuel tank needs to be defrosted. When the car is in the garage, a construction hairdryer or heat gun will help to quickly warm up the tank. On the street at low temperatures, defrosting it is problematic. Try adding hot winter diesel oil with antigel to the tank.
Step 8
Check the condition of the fuel filter. It can be clogged with paraffin, which forms when diesel fuel freezes. Install a new filter. Drain the warmed diesel fuel, or add antigel to it and develop it, and then refuel with winter diesel fuel with the addition of an additive.
