Many car enthusiasts do not even suspect that the battery in the car needs care and maintenance. The main focus should be on checking the electrolyte level, which is best done regularly. A low level signals the presence of overcharging, and if the electrolyte is not enough only in some separate element, then it will soon have to be changed - in warm weather it will still serve you, but with cold weather it will completely fail. Regular checks and care of the battery will help extend its life.
Instructions
Step 1
Try to avoid lengthy traffic jams. By turning on the fan, windscreen wipers, headlights at the same time, you subject the battery to rapid wear. It is estimated that 45 minutes of inactivity in a "traffic jam" can drain the battery so much that it will be impossible to restart the engine. It takes about 30 minutes of normal driving to recover.
Step 2
Charge your battery at a certain “rate” even when you want to get things done faster. Remember that this can lead to overheating, sticking of the electrolyte and defect in the plates. Charge more slowly, but don't hold it too long either. Ideally, the charging current for a conventional lead acid is 10% of its ampere-hour rating.
Step 3
Eliminate prolonged use of additional equipment. Alarms, telephone and other devices reduce the battery life and entail the reasons for its malfunctions.
Step 4
Refill the battery carefully, remember that the electrolyte level rises during charging, and excess acid, getting on the battery case and on the car parts, makes them unusable. Make sure that everything is carefully fastened, because vibrations shake off the active substance from the plates, and this leads to wear of the battery.
