A car battery is a device that generates the electricity needed to drive a car. The service life of a battery in a car depends to a large extent on how the operation of not only the battery itself, but also the vehicle as a whole takes place.

Instructions

Step 1

Keep an eye on the electrolyte level, which should not fall below normal, and its density should clearly correspond to the season of operation. Bring the density up to the desired level with the stationary charger.

Step 2

Regularly check the state of charge, which depends on the regulator relay. A working relay maintains the voltage at a level of 13.8 to 14.4 volts. Also pay attention to the serviceability of the electrical wiring throughout the car - incorrect connections and additional devices also have a bad effect on the battery life.

Step 3

When driving for a long time on the highway, make periodic stops in order to exclude overcharging and boiling of the battery. Boiling, in turn, leads to evaporation of water and a decrease in electrolyte. When traveling in the city, especially when standing in traffic jams for a long time, the battery, on the contrary, may be discharged.

Step 4

Try to start the engine as quickly as possible. Remember, the easier it is to start the motor, the easier it is for the battery. This method of starting will prevent deep discharge of the battery, due to the fact that the starter requires hundreds of amperes of current when the ignition is turned on.

Step 5

Recharge the battery regularly with a low current, which is about 1-2 Amperes. Perform this procedure at least once a month, and this will help to extend the life of the device by about a year. When storing the car in the garage during the winter season, leave the battery inside the car, after removing the terminals, but in no case store it separately in a warm room.

Step 6

Remember that leaving the battery out in the cold is fraught with failure, it will simply freeze and the ice crystals will destroy it. Always carefully remove the battery from the car, because any rollover and subsequent drainage of the electrolyte leads to the fact that the plates are bridged with each other and the battery becomes unusable.
