During the operation of any car, various kinds of breakdowns and malfunctions occur that require immediate correction. If you have a budget class car, then contacting a specialized service costs a lot. For example, you need to replace the glass. The service will ask for several thousand just for the work. However, it is inappropriate to pay for what you can do yourself.
Necessary
New glass, old glue remover, suction cups, mallet, masking tape
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the room where you will perform the glass replacement procedure. This should be a well-lit room. Temperature a should be slightly below room temperature for the glass to set well. Also pay attention to the fact that the room should not be too much debris and dust. Dust particles can enter when installing the glass and thereby impair the strength of the fastening. Wash the vehicle thoroughly just before installing the glass. Let it dry completely.
Step 2
If you need to change the glass in the doors, then you must first remove the trim. It is attached to plastic caps. You need to press lightly so that they fly out of their mounts. The handles can also be dismantled. Do not forget about the process of removing the old broken glass. If it is cracked, but still sticks to the door, then carefully apply masking tape to the crack. If it is not possible to completely remove the glass, completely seal it with two layers of tape. After that, gently apply a few strokes around the edges with a wooden mallet and pull the glass out of the grooves. New glass is very easy to insert. Place it in the slot and secure the opening and closing mechanism from below. Check the functionality. Put on velvet and seals.
Step 3
Installing the front or rear is somewhat more difficult than the side ones. First you need to take out the old glass. To do this, use an awl and thick string. With an awl, push one end under the glass seal so that it comes out on the other side. Then pull the string one way or the other. This is necessary in order to cut the adhesive layer under the seal. Walk completely around the entire perimeter of the glass. Now attach four or two suction cups to opposite ends of the glass. Grasping them, carefully pull the glass out of the grooves. Usually, a sealant is already glued to the new glass. You need to clean off the remnants of the old glue. Apply a layer of new. And also with the help of suction cups, insert a new glass. In this case, you need to carefully press it to all edges so that the glue is evenly distributed around the perimeter.
