A mirror is an important and integral part of any car. Unfortunately, exterior mirrors on the car body are often subjected to undesirable mechanical stress, as a result of which they are damaged, and they have to be replaced. Sometimes it is enough to replace only the mirror glass itself, but in case of serious damage, it is necessary to remove the mirror assembly and replace it completely.

At first glance, such a procedure seems to be very simple and does not require special skill, so many motorists prefer not to contact specialists from a car service, but to replace the damaged mirror on their own. Moreover, driving around the city without a mirror is not only inconvenient, but also dangerous.

Of course, if you have to deal with a mirror, which is controlled by means of an electric drive, it is better to trust the professionals. The same can be said for heated mirrors. But if we are talking about the simplest side-view mirror - without heating or an electric drive - you can remove and replace it yourself, even a novice car enthusiast will cope with this task.

  1. Tune in in advance that no special difficulties are foreseen in the work: the whole process of dismantling the mirror usually takes no more than ten to fifteen minutes.
  2. If not the entire mirror needs to be replaced, but only the damaged glass, it is necessary to forcefully (but not excessively) press on the glass with your fingers from the side of the car door, after which it can be easily removed from the grooves, and it can be removed.
  3. If you need to remove the complete mirror, you must first turn the adjustment knob 90 degrees and carefully remove the rubber band from it. Now you need to remove the plastic cover, and find a screw mount under the foam rubber layer. It will need to be turned off, after which the mirror, deprived of fixation, can be easily removed.
