On the farm, a wheelbarrow or truck is often used to transport goods. But for the transportation of small loads, a wheelbarrow is too unproductive, and cargo transportation will turn out to be too expensive a pleasure. Here a trailer to the car will come to your aid. In stores, you can find a wide selection of models for every taste and wallet, but you can make a trailer yourself, especially since its design is quite simple.
It is necessary
- - metal sheets, corners, pipes and other rolled metal products;
- - finished parts (reflective equipment, wheels, brakes, hitch, etc.).
Instructions
Step 1
Design or find a finished project and blueprints for a caravan. Take into account the restrictions imposed by law: the length of the trailer must not exceed 7.5 meters, and the width - 2.5 meters, at least one axle must be provided with brakes.
Step 2
Buy off-the-shelf trailer parts, using self-made parts will make it much more difficult to register your trailer. Prepare ready-made suspension, brakes, towbar, drawbar, hubs, feet, hitch, connector for feet, wheels, etc. (for all details, you must have the appropriate documents confirming their origin).
Step 3
Assemble the trailer: weld the frame from the traverses and cross tubes, thereby obtaining the frame grid. Sheathe the frame with metal, make the sides foldable so that you can easily transport long objects. Connect the axle beam and side members with springs. Weld the knuckles to the pipe and secure the hubs with wheels and mudguards.
Step 4
Attach the drawbar to the trailer and check its connection with the towbar (the towbar must be attached to the vehicle). Equip the trailer with brake lights, turn signals, dimensions, reflectors and run the wiring harness to the car.
Step 5
When the trailer is ready, go to the traffic police for inspection and registration. Parts documents will be carefully checked (special attention is usually paid to brakes, suspension and towbar). Draw up documents for the trailer and register it. Get your license plate and certificate.
Step 6
Get a checkup. For the first five years, undergo an inspection every two years, after 5 years - annually. Do not forget to thoroughly wash the trailer and check the serviceability of the brakes and lighting equipment before the inspection.
Step 7
Please note that in order to operate a trailer with a gross weight of more than 750 kg, not only category "B", but also category "E" must be open in your driver's license.
