Setting up bicycle disc brakes - both hydraulic and mechanical - requires skill. However, subject to the sequence of actions and thoroughness of the settings, such a procedure can be performed independently.
It is necessary
- - spanners;
- - eccentric;
- - screwdriver.
Instructions
Step 1
When adjusting to international standards when working with hydraulic brakes, secure the wheel, then properly center the caliper to the rotor position. This can be done initially only by the selection method, by installing washers of different sizes between the frame and caliper crepes.
Step 2
You can also adjust the hydraulic brakes in a simpler way: when the wheels and rotor are already installed, tighten the axle and attach the adapter. Next, screw on the caliper loosely and clamp the brake lever. Check the symmetry of the pad extension when pressing the handle - for this, try to spin the wheel in different directions.
Step 3
When the caliper is in place, it must be screwed on tightly. Next, bring the brake pads to the rotor, adjusting the required position.
Step 4
After completing the adjustment, tighten all the bolts additionally and assess the work performed. When properly installed, pressing the handle, the rotor should remain in place, without changing its position.
Step 5
When adjusting mechanical brakes, the axle must be tightened with bolts or an eccentric after the rotor and wheels have been in place. It is recommended to do this while sitting on the bike, because the mechanical brakes are quite sensitive to the shift of the wheel axle. It is necessary to screw the adapter - completely, and the caliper to it - freely.
Step 6
Press the clipper so that the plane of the inner pad completely coincides with the rotor plane, and then tighten it. It is important not to move it when tightening. After that, check the relative position of the pad and the rotor, which can be done both by light and by sound.
Step 7
All this was done with the shirt and cable unscrewed, which, after completing these manipulations, put in place. Moreover, during installation, it is necessary to ensure that the external block is pressed. To facilitate the adjustment, when installing them, you need to lightly press the handle until the brake starts to work: the cable at this time will fall into the lever mount on its own.
