Car seats from constant use begin to wipe and lose their attractiveness. Therefore, you should wear covers. If you do not want to buy ready-made covers or they do not suit you, then you can tailor them yourself to your liking.
It is necessary
- - material;
- - tracing paper;
- - drawing accessories;
- - scissors;
- - needles;
- - threads.
Instructions
Step 1
Select the material from which you want to make the covers. It all depends on your desire and financial capabilities. Do not forget about practicality. Don't buy too light material. Light-colored covers get dirty very quickly and require washing more often than dark ones. The most budgetary option is velor covers. If you want to add solidity to the interior of your car, then make them from car leather.
Step 2
Make a pattern. To do this, take tracing paper, apply all the dimensions taken from the seats on it. Do not forget about the shrinkage that covers can give after washing. Think about ways to connect the parts of the covers. If you have old covers, then you need to rip them open and use them to make a pattern for new ones.
Step 3
Apply a pattern to the back of the material. Check for correct application. Cut carefully along the marked lines. Be very careful to avoid unnecessary damage to the material.
Step 4
Start stitching the pieces together. Sew with a basting for the first time, try on. If the cover fits perfectly, then it can be sewn with the final seam. In the process, check the correctness of the seams several times. Gently pull out the basting thread. Take care of the presence of fasteners on the case. You can sew in a zipper that will be fastened from the back of the seat. You can also use buttons or Velcro. Sew a pocket on the back for storing small items.
Step 5
Sew the rest of the covers in the same way and put them on the seats. If you have little experience in cutting and sewing, or simply do not have time, then contact the nearest atelier. There, a unique design of covers can be developed for you. That is, you can discuss in detail all the smallest details, express your wishes and get detailed advice from a specialist.
