The spoiler is a stylish and beautiful part of the exterior body kit of the car, giving it a sportiness and speed. On sports cars, a spoiler increases downforce on the rear axle, which has a positive effect on the handling and traction of the rear wheels.
Instructions
Step 1
When installing a spoiler on a roof or boot lid, observe the following conditions: the spoiler supports must be attached to the roof or boot lid reinforcements, the spoiler must be positioned as close to the edge of the roof or boot lid as possible (to get as little as possible into the vacuum zone).
Step 2
Before installing the spoiler, make markings for its supports. To do this, your assistant should hold the spoiler with his hands in the place of its intended installation. Use a straight edge to measure and compare the distances from the spoiler supports to the edges of the roof or boot lid. Check the parallelism of the left and right spoiler pillars (if the spoilers are on pillars) and the perpendicularity of the spoiler plane to the vehicle axis. Measure and compare the distances from the left and right edges of the trunk lid (roof) to the spoiler supports: both on the right and on the left, these distances must be the same. Circle the spoiler pillars. Then, removing the spoiler, re-measure all distances.
Step 3
Drill the roof or boot lid at the marked locations. When drilling, direct the drill strictly perpendicular to the plane. After drilling the hole, re-drill it on the other side. Secure the spoiler supports with a bolt and nut. Place washers under the bolts to reduce the stress on the bolt head and increase the impact area on the roof reinforcement (boot lid). Therefore, short bolts should not be selected. Choosing bolts that are too long will prevent the spoiler from tightening. When pulling the spoiler to the roof (boot lid), a slight deflection of the iron on the roof (boot lid) is allowed.
Step 4
To install the spoiler without drilling holes, it can be attached using sealant and double-sided tape. If the car is not painted, it is better to use epoxy adhesive instead of sealant. To do this, mark the location of the spoiler and glue the spoiler to the body according to the instructions for the sealant (epoxy). In this case, the strength of the fastening will be several times lower than when fastening the spoiler with bolts. The spoiler attachment to the sealant can be used as a preliminary attachment option before installing on bolts or screws.
Step 5
If possible, adjust the angle of attack of the spoiler. Increase the angle of attack if high downforce is required for high-speed corners. Reduce the angle of attack if maximum speed is required.
