Installing the body kit on the car is quite simple. This work requires special attention and utmost care, so it is best to entrust it to professionals. However, if you have a garage and all the necessary tools, then you can install the body kit yourself.
It is necessary
- - a set of keys;
- - screwdrivers;
- - technical hair dryer;
- - erasable marker;
- - masking tape.
Instructions
Step 1
Wash your car. Remove dirt from the wheel arches and from the underside of the sills.
Step 2
Drive the car into the garage, position it so that you have access to the sills and bumpers.
Step 3
Identify the plastic body parts that need to be removed to install the body kit and dismantle them. For example, when installing the sills, the front mud flaps must be removed. They are not installed back.
Step 4
Using masking tape, glue the body kit parts as they will be located in the future on the car. Identify the inconsistencies in the shape of the body kits with the body shape. If possible, correct these shortcomings by shifting some parts of the body kits relative to others. When all the parts have been fitted, circle them with an easy-to-remove marker. You can buy it in a kolerny shop. The advantage of an easy-to-remove marker is that it can be easily wiped off with a dry cloth.
Step 5
Remove the front bumper. To do this, open the hood, remove the plastic bumper fasteners, unscrew the fastening screws and bolts. Then go under the car and remove the bumper mounting bolts and also remove the plastic mounting clips. Unscrew the self-tapping screws holding the wheel housing protection on the bumper, then, slightly bending the protection, unscrew the bolt securing the edge of the bumper. Release the other side using the same method. Now carefully slide the top edges of the bumper out of the plastic clips, guiding the bumper up and towards you. Use a partner to remove the bumper. After separating the bumper from the car, disconnect the fog lights and parking radars, if equipped.
Step 6
Place the removed bumper on the stand and, according to the previously applied markings, put your lip to the bumper. Mark the required mounting holes and drill them with a drill. Peel off the edge of the protective strip of double-sided tape at the upper edge of the lip and use the nuts and socket wrench to pull it to the bumper. Do not overtighten the nuts, as this will not improve the reliability of the fasteners, but only deforms the plastic of the bumper and body kit and cause a loose fit of the parts. Be sure to lubricate the threads with grease - this will help you in the future. If necessary, it is easy to remove the body kit. Pulling the lip against the bumper with the nuts, remove the protective tape from the top edge of the lip by pulling on the previously separated edge. Install the rear apron in the same way.
Step 7
Thresholds are much easier to install. As a rule, the sill covers are attached to plastic latches or simply scrolled using self-tapping screws. Mark the mounting holes for the plastic clips and drill them with a drill. Align the plastic clips with the mounting holes and install the threshold. From the underside, pull the sill to the body using self-tapping screws. Set the second threshold in the same way.
Step 8
Install the front and rear bumpers with body kits installed on them.
Step 9
Use a dry cloth to erase the markings.
