Step 1
Select the place where you will carry out the procedure for dismantling the door trim. This can be done in your yard if the weather is warm and dry. But the best option is a garage. In it, you can not be afraid of bad weather. And it is much more comfortable to repair a car indoors than on the street. Please note that the surface on which your machine stands must be level. Apply the parking brake to lock the car. Open the hood and remove the negative terminal of the battery. This will prevent a short circuit when you disconnect the power windows and alarm wires.
Step 2
Open the door from which you will be removing the trim as far as possible. If the door does not keep as open as possible, then it is necessary to fix it. To do this, you can use a small wooden block, which must be inserted between the door and the car body just below the upper hinge. Take out all the things that are in the pocket of the door. Remove all overlays. These can be plugs or edging of the power window buttons.
Step 3
Now unscrew all the screws that secure the door trim. You can find their location in your vehicle manual. Try to remember, and best of all, write down where which self-tapping screw was located, as they may differ slightly in diameter or length. Now move the door opener housing towards the direction of the vehicle and pull it towards you. The lever will slide out of the socket and disengage.
Step 4
Now the casing is held only by plastic clips. Find their location. At these points, gently press down on the edges of the trim and pull slightly towards you. This will open the latches. Now you need to carefully detach the trim by five centimeters. Carefully disconnect all wires going to the power window buttons and the column. After that, the door trim will no longer hold anything and can be removed without hindrance.
