PTS, or vehicle passport, is a special document that contains information about all owners of a car, information about the car itself and data on its registration.
What is it for and by whom it is issued
The main purpose of the PTS is to allow the vehicle to be used on the road, to strengthen the fight against theft of cars and to control the payment of customs duties.
PTS is issued:
- Vehicle sellers (if the car is purchased for the first time).
- Customs authorities (when importing a car from another state).
- Traffic police (when issuing a duplicate PTS or when replacing it).
In any case, you should carefully study all the data specified in the PTS, especially if the PTS issues a car salon.
In what cases the TCP is changed
This document needs to be changed in only three cases:
- The TCP was damaged or damaged in some way.
- The person registered in the PTS changed his surname or place of residence.
- In the event that there is no room left in the TCP for making new entries there.
It should be noted that in most cases, issuing a change in Title or updating of this document is associated with changes in the passport data of the vehicle owner. Most often this happens after the girl gets married. You need to make a replacement within 10 days.
What documents are needed
The vehicle owner should go directly to the traffic police and take the following documents with him:
- PTS.
- Passport.
- Marriage certificate (or other document proving the change of surname).
- Registration of road transport.
- OSAGO.
- Receipt of payment of the duty.
- Application filled out according to the sample.
All original documents must be accompanied by at least one photocopy.
How TCP changes are made
Before submitting documents to the inspector of the MREO traffic police, you need to pay a fee at the bank branch. The amount of the fee, according to the latest changes, is 350 rubles. You do not need to show the car.
After contacting the traffic police officers will issue a new vehicle with updated data. Most often, a new TCP is issued on the day of application. An exception may be cases in which additional checks are needed.
What will happen if you do not change the title in time
If the vehicle title is not changed in time, the vehicle owner may face a fine of 1, 5 to 2 thousand rubles. At the same time, the traffic police officer draws up a protocol in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia (19.22) - violation of registration of documents on the vehicle. However, this protocol can be challenged in court.
It is also important to remember that in the event of a change of surname, a citizen needs to change not only the vehicle title, but also the driver's license, the CTP policy and many other important documents. In this case, the owner of the car must update the documents within the time limits regulated by the current law, otherwise penalties are possible.
