CTP policies appeared in Russia in 2003. However, the controversy surrounding this insurance still does not subside: some believe that it is necessary, others call it legalized taking of money. Other questions are also often of concern to motorists. One of them is what documents are required to issue an OSAGO policy.

Despite the fact that the policy is issued annually by millions of drivers throughout Russia, they are confused by the regularly changing legislation in the field of motor third party liability insurance. Therefore, car owners often suffer, pondering what documents they need to take with them to get a car insurance.

One of the main confusion is associated with the adoption of amendments to the law, when insurance was associated with the passage of a technical inspection.

What documents are required for registration of OSAGO

So, to date, the list of documents that must be provided is quite clearly enshrined in the legislation. You will need:

- a document proving the identity of the policyholder: passport, ID card of a serviceman, etc.;

- power of attorney with the passport data of the vehicle owner (required if you drive the car by power of attorney);

- technical device passport (PTS) or registration certificate (STS). Alternatively, any other similar document will do;

- driver's licenses of all those persons who will be indicated in the list of admitted to driving;

- the previous CTP policy (if you are insuring for the first time, but have previously been entered into other people's policies, you can present them);

- a coupon or other document confirming the vehicle's technical inspection.

If you plan not to limit the number of persons allowed to drive, no license is required. However, it should be borne in mind that the cost of insurance in this case will increase.

The policyholder may not be the owner of the vehicle. So, for example, in his role can be a person driving a car by proxy, and it does not matter whether it is general or simple handwritten.

The insurer, on the basis of this entire package of documents, fills out an OSAGO policy. In this case, the policyholder must fill out an application for insurance, which is then signed by both parties.

In addition to the completed MTPL policy, the owner of the vehicle is handed a receipt for payment, which he immediately pays. It is worth remembering that if you regularly and on time renew the policy, a system of discounts is applied to you, the cost of the policy significantly decreases.

What to be afraid of when filling out an OSAGO policy

In no case do not follow the insurer's representatives and do not sign an empty form under assurances that the insurance agent will then fill in everything on his own. Supposedly it will save you time. Do not hurry. Better check everything carefully. After all, if the agent enters information that is beneficial to him, you can later suffer very seriously financially in an accident.

If the agent, when filling out the data, enters all the information according to your words, without being interested in supporting documents (especially if you are taking out insurance in this insurance for the first time), it is better to refuse his services.

The same should be done in the event that he proposes to underestimate the power of the car, increase the driving experience, improperly apply discounts, etc. After all, you put your signature under the specified data, which means that you bear all responsibility and risks for them.
