The bumpers of VAZ 2107 cars are rather fake and represent a plastic carrier, which is "reinforced" on top with a chrome decorative trim. If an accident occurs, the bumper will not serve as protection, the car body will receive significant damage. To strengthen this fragile part, it is worth attaching the L-shaped metal profile and thereby moving the protective element away from the body.
Necessary
- - 2 metal profiles of L-shaped section 70 mm, 130 cm each;
- - four bolts with nuts;
- - set of tools.
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the front and rear bumpers from the vehicle first. To do this, unscrew 6 nuts from each. The last four, with which the ends of the bumper are attached to the wings, immediately put in place and tighten. You won't need them anymore. After all, even with a light impact, these bolts transmit the impact, which deforms the wings of the car. Let these chrome beautiful head bolts do the aesthetic function.
Step 2
Drill four holes in the metal profile. Make two closer to the edge to attach the future device to the connectors. From the center, measure 7-8 cm to the opposite edge and drill 2 more, they are necessary for attaching to the profile of the bumper itself.
Step 3
With four connectors, do the following. Bend the lower mounting plate forward, thus you get the mount for the lower bolt of the future bumper. The strips bend easily on the connector, but proceed with caution. Use a vice to work.
Step 4
To always keep the trunk clean, before installing the rear bumper, plug the cavities with a sponge soaked in MOVIL in advance. In this way, you will establish a reliable barrier against dust, which is usually sucked in through the open parts of the connector.
Step 5
Install the profiles, and on them a new shock-resistant bumper. It will be moved 7-8 cm away from the body. But there is little space between the profile and the crescent-shaped bumper, so before completing the installation, attach a wooden block to the metal profile so that the bumper is pressed against it. Bumpers can be reinforced in other cars in the same way.
