Scratches on a car, especially on the bumper, are quite common and unpleasant for every car enthusiast. And of course, every car owner tries to get rid of these scratches as soon as possible. The only complication is that the bumper is usually a plastic part, which means that it is more difficult to fix the damage.
It is necessary
- - special means for polishing;
- - sanding paper;
- - putty;
- - auto paint.
Instructions
Step 1
Damage to the car can be severe when the scratch is deep and not too noticeable when the bumper is slightly worn. If the scratches are practically indistinguishable, you need to do the following: first, wipe off the remnants of traces of paint with a solvent (if the obstacle was a small yard fence or the bumper of another car), then carefully paint over the place of damage with paint identical to the factory paint in color.
Step 2
If the scratch is deep, then more global work is needed here. The place of the scratch must be putty. Then, after the putty dries, you need to carefully sand the place of damage and then paint it.
Step 3
Another option for removing scratches on the bumper is with paint. The bumper is completely removed and placed so that its surface is parallel to the floor. Next, you need to take the paint in the body color and start pouring it into the cracks. When the paint reaches the edges of the scratches, you can stop, trim all areas and let the paint dry.
Step 4
Minor scratches can also be removed with polish. This happens with sanding paper. Soak a sander in warm water, then use a damp paper at a 45-degree angle to start smoothing the bumper with vigorous but gentle strokes. After you need to let the surface dry and varnish it. The scratch will be almost invisible.
