Necessary

Wheel wrench, mechanical or hydraulic jack

Instructions

Step 1

Place the car on the handbrake (parking brake). Then put the car at speed (after depressing the clutch, engage the first or second speed). If your car is parked on an inclined part of the road, place a brick or stone under the wheels so that it additionally insures the car and prevents it from rolling.

Step 2

After making sure that the car does not exactly roll from a place, you can begin to tighten the wheel bolts. To do this, use a wheel wrench (usually a 19 wheel wrench). Conventional passenger cars have four fastening bolts per wheel. On executive cars and on sports cars, there may be more mounting bolts. At this stage, do not completely loosen the bolts, only loosen them. If the bolts do not loosen, then apply force to the key with your foot.

Step 3

Next, take the folded jack and place it under the jack (this is a specially reinforced part of the car bottom). Then start turning the handle to raise the jack while holding it in place. As soon as the vehicle is well placed on the jack foot, you can unfold the jack without holding it. Raise the vehicle until the wheel to be removed rotates freely. To check, you can try to twist it by hand.

Step 4

After the wheel to be replaced rotates freely, completely remove the mounting bolts. Since they are already loosened, you can easily unscrew them by hand. Remove the wheel from the vehicle.
