All cases of pressing the brake can be roughly divided into two categories, depending on the road situation. The first is braking to perform a maneuver (for example, a turn). The second is braking in certain traffic situations (traffic lights, traffic jams, pedestrian skipping).

Instructions

Step 1

Many drivers themselves make and teach others to brake when the brake lights of the car in front come on. This is partly true, but more often than not, you can and should press the brake before the car in front does it. In other words, predict traffic situations and calculate the reasons for braking by the driver of the car in front.

Step 2

Do not press the clutch pedals while depressing the brake pedal. This improves the efficiency of braking due to braking, including by the engine, reduces the load on the elements of the braking system, excludes overheating of the brakes and wheel blocking. This method of braking is always recommended, regardless of the season and the complexity of the road situation.

Step 3

Accustom yourself to impulse braking and use it constantly. To do this, the first press on the brake should be short and weak (flashing brake lights will alert drivers behind cars going behind). Increase the time and pressure on the pedal with each subsequent brake application. At the same time, do not forget to correct the movement of the car if it changes. With impulse braking, it is necessary to correct even when the brake is not applied. Braking is mutually exclusive with steering, so braking is necessary when the vehicle is moving in a straight line. If the wheels become blocked during braking, reduce the pressure on the brake. If the vehicle is equipped with ABS, there will be a “click” at the start of braking. Get used to it so that it doesn't get confused. Try to brake smoothly.

Step 4

Be aware of the situation behind when braking. If the flow rate is high, before braking, blink the brake lights several times, warning the drivers behind. In addition, you can assess the condition (slipperiness) of the road and calculate your further braking actions. Train yourself to always put your foot on the brake pedal when you stop pressing the gas pedal.

Step 5

If necessary, apply the brake on uneven roads, try to brake on level areas. Overcoming bumps combined with braking will rock the vehicle and damage the suspension. Practice applying braking forces of varying duration and pressure to keep the car from swinging.

Step 6

If you suddenly release the brake pedal while braking, the car in some way "bounces" the front wheels. This property can be used to overcome rails, speed bumps and similar bumps. To do this, sharply press the brake, and just before the collision of the front wheels, suddenly release the pedal. The shock loads on the front suspension will be reduced and the comfort of overcoming obstacles will be increased. Better yet, after releasing the brake, press the gas sharply. In this case, it is convenient to brake with your left foot in order to be able to press the gas without delay. Practice in a deserted area before using this method.

Step 7

When braking, take your foot off the brake pedal a moment before the vehicle comes to a complete stop in order to eliminate a reverse impulse. If the action takes place on a descent or ascent, do everything described stronger and sharper, and after a complete stop of the car, press the brake again to hold the machine.
