The handbrake has another name: the handbrake. This mechanism allows you to keep the car stationary on any surfaces and slopes. Many novice drivers often resort to his help.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare a 10 mm pipe wrench, screwdrivers and a powerful flashlight. Place the vehicle on a level surface to ensure that it cannot move while working. Then put the handbrake on the car and use a jack to raise the rear of the car. Remove only one bolt from each rear wheel.
Step 2
Pick up a lamp or bright lantern and start spinning the wheels with your hands. When doing this, carefully look behind the hole to find the parking brake adjustment sprocket. If you do not know what it is or find it difficult to find this element, then ask your friends who understand this to show you.
Step 3
Turn the sprocket until the wheel stops turning by hand. Then turn it back a few turns. Check the wheels - they should turn freely and easily. Carefully lift up the cover that covers the brake lever.
Step 4
Flip all latches to release the lever. Then, using a wrench, tighten the adjusting nuts to such an extent that the wheels cannot be turned by hand. Be careful not to overdo it or strip the threads. Sit in the driver's seat and release the handbrake. Try to start spinning the wheels using the steering wheel.
Step 5
If the wheels rotate freely, then put on a cover. Make sure that all latches are in place. Replace all bolts and lower the vehicle. Do not forget to check the handbrake after the completed work.
Step 6
To do this, find a suitable slide, and, having driven onto it, raise the hand brake lever. Release the brake pedal and stand there for a few minutes. If the handbrake is enough to keep the car from rolling downhill, then you have done an excellent job.
