Repainting a car with a change in its color requires registration with the traffic police department. This procedure includes filing an application, paying the fee, inspecting the car by an inspector and reviewing the application. After the issuance of a new registration certificate, the color change must be registered with the insurance company.
When planning a repainting of a car, the car owner can either keep the original color of the car or change it to a new one. The legislation does not clearly state the percentage of the surface area of a car, a color change of which requires registration, therefore, it is advisable to register even a slight color change in the traffic police, so that in the future you will not have problems with the employees of this service.
The list of documents required for registration of repainting includes a passport and a vehicle registration certificate, an OSAGO insurance policy and an internal civil passport of the car owner.
The order of the registration procedure
Turning to the traffic police department, first of all, you need to write a statement on a special form, after which a special mark is put on it stating that the vehicle is not on the wanted list.
Then the car owner receives bank details, according to which he makes payment for consulting services, as well as the cost of the new registration certificate form.
The traffic police inspector inspects the car, checking the conformity of the body and engine numbers indicated in the documentation. The inspection must be carried out on the day of registration, which should be taken into account when planning the time of the visit.
All completed documents and payment receipts are handed over to the reception window, after which the car owner expects the result of the application. The duration of the procedure depends on the number of visitors and may take several hours.
