So your old dream has come true, you have purchased a new scooter, the service life of which directly depends on how the running-in will be done. Its duration is set by the manufacturer. So how do you properly break-in your motorcycle to maximize its useful life?
Instructions
Step 1
Start riding the scooter only after the engine has warmed up. If the engine is air-cooled, the cylinders should feel warm to the touch and the engine should idle steadily and smoothly with the starter off. Liquid-cooled engines have a temperature gauge that indicates how warm the engine is.
Step 2
In the new scooter engine, the piston, gears, crankshaft and many other parts have not yet had time to get used to each other, so the manufacturer recommends running the motorcycle for the first thousand kilometers. In this case, it is recommended to move at a speed of no more than 45-50 kilometers per hour and at full throttle. Do not drive at a constant speed for long periods of time. Refrain from driving at maximum speed for the first five hundred kilometers.
Step 3
During the first week, check all fasteners (wheels and front forks, fastenings for the cladding, rear wheel, engine and brakes), if necessary, tighten. Take the first inspection after one month or after 500 kilometers.
Step 4
Change the transmission and engine oil after three hundred kilometers of running in. Since none of you know how the motor was assembled, there may be chips or metal dust in it. Change the oil three times in the first 1000 kilometers, i.e. after 300, 600 and 900 kilometers. Do not save, choose brands of well-known companies in a trusted store. Do not buy on the market as there is a possibility of counterfeiting.
Step 5
Only refuel the scooter with the recommended octane gasoline. Do not load the scooter during the running-in, do not seat the second passenger. After stopping, do not turn off the engine immediately, let it idle for one to three minutes.
