The VIN code of the car consists of three parts. The first three digits of the number are referred to as WMI. This is the world index of the car manufacturer. Pay attention to the next five characters. This is VDI, or narrative. It goes from the fourth to the ninth position of the number, inclusive. Characters 10 through 17 are called VIS, or distinctive part. The last four characters are necessarily numbers. The ninth character is the check digit of the code. By this number, you can determine the correctness of the entire VIN. The tenth character denotes the model code of the car, the eleventh is the vehicle assembly plant. The remaining numbers and letters encrypt the production order and are individual for each manufacturer.
