The number of cars in major cities is growing rapidly. Some metropolitan areas are successfully coping with traffic congestion by introducing new rules for drivers. If Kiev does not follow their example, then in the coming years it will face a road collapse.

Huge congestion returned to the Ukrainian capital along with the end of summer vacations. During rush hour traffic in the city center is extremely difficult, and often the line of slowly creeping cars stops altogether. Experts believe that over time, the situation on the roads will only get worse, and the whole city will turn into a huge traffic jam.

European countries have long begun to struggle with a similar problem. The authorities are promoting public transport among the population. Many people prefer to ride bicycles - in the West, all conditions have been created for this - bike paths and convenient parking. Several ring roads are under construction. In the largest capitals, in particular - in London, the entrance to the city center is paid.

Kiev has yet to develop its own measures to combat the impending traffic collapse. Independent experts propose, first of all, to build several traffic-free ring roads, as well as to relieve the center - to move a maximum of institutions to other parts of the city. A more convenient network of city routes is also to be developed so that people can easily get home by public transport.

The authorities are also considering the idea of building parking lots at the entrances to the city to "intercept" the cars of drivers who live outside the city and who come to work in Kiev every day. It is assumed that people will leave their cars in parking lots and get to their offices by public transport, and in the evening after work change to a private car again.

In the meantime, work in this direction in Kiev has not begun - it was approved only by officials on paper. At the moment, there is not a single complete ring road in the capital of Ukraine, and the construction of parking lots has not begun. So far, Kiev has to idle in traffic jams every day.
