In the life of almost every motorist, troubles of various kinds often occur. For example, an unscrupulous driver scratched the bumper in a parking lot and drove away without leaving his contact details. A visit to a car service is an expensive business, so it is better to do the repair yourself. But how do you remove the bumper?
Instructions
Step 1
First, you should take care of the place where you will dismantle the bumper. Considering that you will have to crawl under the front of the car, it is better to find an overpass. A pit in the garage is also fine. Place the vehicle at neutral speed and apply the parking brake. Now you need to place a jack under the front side member and raise the machine. This is necessary in order to gain access to the bumper mounts, which are located on the side of the wheel arch. It is best to use two jacks at once so you don't have to raise and lower each side.
Step 2
Open the hood and remove the negative terminal from the battery. Wash the wheel arch as the mountings can be hidden under a thick layer of dirt. If there is a sink next to the garage, then you can rinse the arches before entering the garage. If the car wash is located at a sufficiently large distance from the place where you plan to remove the bumper, then there is no point in washing the car. After cleaning, locate the location of the bumper mounts. These can be screws, screws or bolts. Unscrew them carefully. If the bumper is attached with self-tapping screws, then you need to turn them out very smoothly and slowly so as not to damage the nests into which they are driven.
Step 3
Now find the wires going to the fog lights. Detach the clips. The fog lights themselves are usually attached to the bumper, so there is no need to remove them. If the foglights are attached to the bumper and the beam on which the bumper is held, then they must be dismantled. It is best to cover open plugs with something so that dirt does not clog in them. Remove all bolts that connect the bumper and the crankcase guard. Grasp the bumper at both ends and pull slightly towards you to release it from the main mounts. Now disconnect the electrical wires and hoses going to the headlight washers. The bumper can then be removed completely. You need to hold it symmetrically, otherwise it may break. Installation is in the reverse order.
