The radiator in a car engine is one of the main components of the cooling system, which is necessary for the normal operation of the engine. Engine overheating often leads to vehicle breakdown and sometimes to an accident. Therefore, the cooling system requires regular maintenance and appropriate maintenance.
Instructions
Step 1
The radiator is located in front of the car's engine, so all dust, dirt, small stones and insects accumulate between its fins. Every motorist knows that the radiator needs to be flushed from time to time. Or change, if financial capabilities allow.
Step 2
Flush the radiator from the outside and from the inside. Internal flushing consists of sequentially draining antifreeze from the unit and repeatedly pouring in distilled water with a cleaning agent (a little soda ash or ordinary decalcifier). Then the radiator is rinsed with clean water and refilled with antifreeze coolant.
Step 3
External flushing is made even easier. The radiator is removed from the car and rinsed with a regular hose with water under low pressure.
Step 4
However, in order to protect the radiator from small objects, stones and insects getting into it, it must be covered with a net. The grille, of course, helps to protect the vehicle from oncoming airflow. But poplar fluff, the corpses of butterflies, midges, all the same clog the insides of the car, settle on the radiator honeycomb.
Step 5
To close the radiator with an additional mesh, you will need: a set of screwdrivers, self-tapping screws, an aluminum tuning mesh, metal scissors.
Remove the upper decorative grille with the car logo. On domestic machines, it is attached with self-tapping screws, they must be unscrewed. In imported cars, the grille is held by clips, which must be removed by pulling off with a screwdriver.
Step 6
Remove the front bumper mounting bolts to maximize access to the grille. Remove the grate if possible.
Step 7
Take a piece of cardboard and make a lattice pattern. Place the blank on the mesh, circle it with a marker and cut with metal scissors. Leave 1.5 cm on all sides for the hem. Attach the mesh to the car body with self-tapping screws. Such a simple device will help keep the radiator and engine working longer. Also, cleaning the mesh is easier than flushing the radiator.
