Step 1
The main design of the car is formed by the front and rear bumpers, as well as the front grille. Tuning the front bumper of the car consists in the manufacture of special linings.
Step 2
If you decide to do everything yourself, you need to think over everything well, imagine all the stages of work, and it is important to think over each operation to the smallest detail.
Step 3
The bumper must be well washed and degreased. Then it must be fixed in compliance with the angles at which it should stand on the car.
Step 4
Then we fill in the contours of the bumper with polyurethane foam. It is best to do this gradually, otherwise a large layer of foam will dry out within 2-3 days.
Step 5
Taking into account the future weight of the linings and the stiffness of the future tuned bumper, it is necessary to reinforce the bumper. For this purpose, strips of iron and wire (8-10 mm) are screwed to the bumper, and poured with polyurethane foam, as if a blank of the future bumper is formed. The blank should be marked with pre-made templates.
Step 6
After the foam has dried, you should not rush to paste over the disc with fiberglass. It is better to paste over it first with thick paper, and then apply a layer of glue and finish with a strip of fiberglass.
Step 7
Apply the glue in thin layers and let it dry, the optimal time is a day. Until the glue is completely dry, the surfaces should not be cleaned. On the last layer of glue, you can add aluminum powder, the surface will be smoother and easier to process.
Step 8
Fiberglass only increases the strength of the structure, makes the bumper more rigid. In the process of pasting the bumper, the layers of fiberglass must be laid as evenly as possible.
Step 9
For sanding, it is best to use a sander with 80 grit sandpaper. When the surface is dry, sand it with 320 or 220 grit sandpaper.
Step 10
In places where the bumper is bent, glue with an extra layer of fiberglass to avoid possible cracks. When everything is dry, paint can be applied. This completes the manufacture of the tuning bumper.
