Scratches appear after minor accidents, from a cat suddenly jumping onto a car; an accidentally hitting branch of a tree can also damage the surface. To get rid of minor damage, it is not at all necessary to completely replace the bumper, because it is enough to correctly apply paint to the problematic place, and the car will return to its original appearance.
Necessary
- - detergent;
- - a small knife;
- - sanding paper;
- - solvent;
- - primer;
- - a special gun or syringe for applying paint;
- - wet wipe;
- - dye;
- - varnish.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the part of the bumper you need. Remove dust and dirt from the scratch and be sure to wash it with any detergent or regular laundry detergent.
Step 2
Carefully use a knife to clean the damage from the peeling paint. After that, sand the scratch with a special sandpaper. As soon as the surface of the bumper becomes matt, wipe it with a special degreasing solvent in order to remove the residual tar.
Step 3
Cover the scratched part of the bumper with two coats of primer. To facilitate the procedure, it is best to use a special gun. First, apply one coat evenly, let it dry, and then repeat the procedure.
Step 4
Wait for the soil to dry thoroughly, usually it takes about two days. Sand the primer to remove any imperfections and unevenness on the bumper. Just do not overdo it, otherwise you will wipe it all over to the ground. After sanding the primer, blow it thoroughly and degrease it.
Step 5
Wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth before applying paint. You can tint the bumper with an ordinary small brush, or with a special tool in the form of a syringe. Spread the paint in a thin, even layer and wait about twenty minutes for it to dry. After that, gently reapply the paint and wait for it to dry. If you are not satisfied with the result, then you can apply one or two additional layers.
Step 6
Fix the resulting result with a colorless varnish. It is best to apply it in several layers too.
