Electronic vehicle options

With the development of computer technologies, car manufacturers are waging a kind of competitive "wars", striving to make their "product" as comfortable and convenient as possible, as well as to ensure the highest level of safety when traveling. The uniqueness of cars is created by completing them with all imaginable and inconceivable robotic systems. These are various electronic brake control systems, climate control, automatic light control, and cruise control.

All motorists, whose vehicles are equipped with these "gadgets", probably know how to use them, and feel their work in the mechanism of the car. However, as a rule, few go into details and really understand how certain electronic systems and assemblies are arranged and by what principle they function.

Cruise control in the car

Take cruise control, for example. Usually it is installed on luxury versions of a complete set of foreign cars, and since 2013, domestic manufacturers have taken the risk of launching an updated Lada Priora with this option on sale.

Cruise control is a mechanism that automatically controls the speed of a vehicle. This system was first used in 1958 at the Crysler Imperial. The essence of her work was to monitor the relationship between the speed of rotation of the cardan and the volume of supplied fuel.

Modern cruise control systems are processor devices connected to the throttle and have several sensor elements. With the use of high-quality systems, the car accelerates smoothly, without jerking, the constant speed is maintained taking into account the characteristics of the road surface, as well as sharp ups and downs.

The device is coordinated using the keys, usually located on the steering wheel. As a rule, these are buttons for enabling / disabling the option, setting a constant speed, restoring the previous speed if the driver was braking or reducing the speed.

Activating cruise control

When cruise control is activated, the corresponding icon on the instrument panel lights up. To directly enable the function, you must start driving and, when accelerating to the desired pace, press the key for setting a constant speed. The icon on the instrument panel will change color. Now the driver can take his foot off the gas pedal - the car will move independently at the selected speed. If necessary, it is possible to increase or decrease the speed of movement or completely turn off the cruise control by pressing the brake pedal.

Types of cruise control and its importance in the life of motorists

Cruise control is passive and adaptive. Their main difference is that the adaptive version, with the same principle of operation, does not allow the car to approach the vehicle in front of it, maintains a certain distance and, when the speed decreases, activates the braking system independently. Thus, the cruise control system is an indispensable assistant for the driver on long journeys and avoids overspeeding.
