After the accident was properly formalized, and the driver of another car was found to be the culprit in the accident as a result of violation of traffic rules, then the damage caused to the car can be obtained from the insurance company.
With the introduction of a system of direct settlement of losses, victims of road accidents were given the right to choose an insurance company. So, you can contact both the insurance company in which the liability of the guilty driver is insured, and the company in which your OSAGO contract is concluded.
At the very beginning, you should receive a request for documents from the traffic police. To do this, go to the claims settlement department (the names may be different, but the essence remains the same) of the company you have chosen and tell where, at what time and with whose participation the accident occurred. The received request, on the basis of which you will be prepared all the documents on the accident (including the accident scheme, certificate, etc.), should be taken to the traffic police.
After collecting all the necessary documents, you should go to the selected company. Please note that many insurers are trying to get rid of their direct obligation to pay insurance benefits by referring you to another company. Remember, the insurer, by virtue of the law, has no right to refuse to accept your documents!
