Someone changes the oil every 8-15 thousand kilometers, someone - before the beginning of each season (spring and autumn), others only when passing MOT. One way or another, engine oil is a consumable that must be changed in accordance with the recommendations of the car manufacturer. Consider how you can change the oil for a VAZ.
It is necessary
- - VAZ car
- - engine oil 4 + 1 liters
- - oil filter
- - puller for oil filter
- - oil pan plug
- - 12mm hexagon
- - flushing liquid or diesel fuel, 4 liters
- - container for draining oil, two pieces of 5 liters each
- - additive for cleaning the engine before changing the oil
Instructions
Step 1
There are two options: easy and economical. Let's get started with the easy way. Everything is simple here: you go to an auto store and buy the oil you need (take a 4L canister and another 1L can - "in reserve" or for refilling), a new oil filter, just in case, a crankcase plug and flushing fluid. Take all this with you, come to a service station (any car service, it doesn't matter), and everything is done in front of you in 20 minutes. The cost of services ranges from 300 to 1500 rubles, depending on the region and the level of the car service.
Step 2
The second option is economical, that is, you change the oil yourself. The shopping list basically remains the same, but it makes sense to get another convenient container for draining and subsequent disposal of used oil. For this, a five-liter canister is suitable (from under water, for example) with a cut out wide hole on the side; two such containers are required. We also recommend purchasing a special fluid for flushing the engine, or 3-4 liters of diesel fuel. A special puller is useful to change the oil filter.
Step 3
Warm up the engine to operating temperature, turn it off, prepare a container to drain the oil. Let's start with the procedure itself. First of all, place a container for drainage under the drain hole of the oil pan and unscrew the plug using a hexagon. It should be borne in mind that the oil will drain faster at first, gradually slowing down as the engine is empty. Accordingly, you will have to "catch" the oil stream with a canister. The heated oil is drained in about 10 minutes.
Step 4
Screw the sump cover back on (if the old one is broken or leaks, use a new one), fill the engine with flushing fluid, or 3-4 liters of diesel fuel (diesel fuel). Disconnect the high-voltage wire from the ignition coil to the distributor and twist the starter a little. Then drain the flush in the same way.
Step 5
Now the old oil is drained, the engine is flushed out of its residues. Time to change the oil filter. Unscrew the old filter (for this, use a special remover). If problems arise, for example, if the filter is stuck and does not turn, you can punch it through with a thick screwdriver, then try to turn the filter with the screwdriver as a lever. When the old filter is removed, lubricate the gasket of the new filter with engine oil, replace it and screw it tight.
Step 6
The system is ready to receive new oil. Open the oil filler cap and slowly pour in the oil, in several steps with an average of 300 ml. After each use, wait about a minute while checking the oil level with the dipstick. When the oil level is between the min and max notches, you can close the filler neck, start the engine (after putting the ignition coil wire back in place), after a few seconds turn it off, wait a little and check the oil level again with the dipstick, top up a little more if necessary.
