Oil change is one of the important points in the current car maintenance. Engine oil is used to lubricate rotating and rubbing parts inside the engine and operates under aggressive conditions. It must maintain the required viscosity under various operating conditions and engine loads. Over time, the oil loses its properties and needs to be replaced. The oil change schedule depends on the type of oil, the condition of the engine and the operating conditions. On VAZ cars, oil changes must be made, on average, every 5000 kilometers. The type of oil must be selected according to the instruction manual. Untimely oil change can lead to damage to the power unit, up to overhaul.

It is necessary

  • - hexagonal L-shaped wrench for the drain plug;
  • - a key for unscrewing the oil filter;
  • - key "13";
  • - container for used oil;
  • - new oil filter;
  • - motor oil;
  • - a rag;
  • - gloves.

Instructions

Step 1

Place the parking brake on the vehicle. Open the hood and open the filler cap.

Step 2

Go down to the observation hole. Remove the sump splash guard (if equipped). It is usually mounted on four screws with a turnkey size of "13". Clean the drain plug. For stubborn dirt, use a wire brush.

Step 3

Take a prepared waste oil container and place it under the drain plug. Use an L-shaped wrench to carefully unscrew the plug. Be careful, the drained oil has a temperature of at least 60 degrees, work with gloves! Allow the oil to drain completely from the oil pan drain hole.

Step 4

After draining, remove the remaining oil with a rag and screw the plug tightly into place. Install the removed sump splash guard. The following operations are performed from above in the engine compartment.

Step 5

Unscrew the oil filter with a special wrench. Let the remaining oil drain and remove the used filter. Clean the place where the oil filter is attached to the remains of used oil. Take a new filter and fill it one third with clean engine oil. Then carefully coat the O-ring of the new filter with clean oil. Screw the new filter back on without using a tool. Hand tighten.

Step 6

Install a funnel into the filler neck. Fill with new oil 3 mm below the "MAX" mark on the dipstick. Screw on the filler cap. After filling with clean oil, start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. While the engine is running, check for oil leaks from the drain plug and oil filter. Stop the engine, check the oil level, add oil if necessary, tighten the plug and the filter.
