Motorists know that road safety directly depends on the cleanliness of the windshield. However, it sometimes happens that in rainy weather, ordinary frame brushes do not provide sufficient effective cleaning of the glass, and in winter they may even freeze to it. To save yourself from such troubles, you can install frameless wipers that clean the windshield well and work even in severe frosts.
It is necessary
- - set of wrenches;
- - frameless wipers.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose the most suitable frameless wipers. Before that, measure the length of the old ones and pay special attention to the size of their brushes and attachments. Modern wipers are produced with several fasteners at once, which greatly simplifies the selection process. There are also heated frameless wipers that will work even in extreme cold. The heating is connected to the cigarette lighter or directly to the power system.
Step 2
After you pick up the wipers, proceed to choosing the place where you will install them. Thoroughly wash your car windshield and wiper mountings. After that, remove the old wipers. First, remove the brushes from them, for which carefully unscrew the pins and remove the brush bodies from the mount. Then dismantle the wiper bodies and remove the rubber plugs that cover the bolts. Select the wrench in the set that best fits the size and use it to loosen the bolts. This must be done very carefully, since they are directly connected to the motors that set the wipers in motion. Put the loosened bolts and nuts in one place so as not to lose anything, otherwise you will not be able to fix the wipers.
Step 3
When all the preparatory work has been done, you can proceed directly to the installation of new wipers. Open the hood of the car and carefully insert the wiper heater wire through the mounting hole into the engine compartment. Secure the wire so that it does not touch working parts. Next, connect it through the fuse to the button that turns on the heated side mirrors or rear window. After fixing, put a rubber cover on the wire to avoid chafing while the wipers are working. Then place the rubber pad on the square pin and slide the wiper mount base onto it. Secure the wiper frame with a washer and bolt.
Step 4
At the end of the work, lower the brushes on the windshield, close the hood and be sure to check the performance of the new wipers. If they move too slowly, the bolts must be slightly loosened.
