The role of motor oils is extremely important. Thanks to them, the products of pollution and oxidation are kept in suspension, they also provide the necessary cleanliness of engine parts and assemblies, significantly reduce the degree of their wear, remove excess heat and protect the metal from corrosion.
Instructions
Step 1
To begin with, I would like to note that the oil level in any car should be checked at least once a week, regardless of weather conditions. Such a check is, first of all, a guarantee of the correct uninterrupted operation of your engine and the machine as a whole.
Step 2
Prepare engine oil, a watering can and a tissue for testing. To check, you need to take the oil that you poured into your car.
Step 3
Park your vehicle on a level surface. It is important that the machine is not tilted when checking the oil. Find the dipstick near the engine. As a rule, it is a small plastic handle that is located on the outside. It looks like a small flattened knitting needle.
Step 4
Check the oil level strictly before starting the engine itself. In no case should you determine the oil level while the engine is running, as it is dangerous to your life, you can burn yourself with a stream of boiling oil, which will most likely splash from the engine. In addition, it is impossible to check the engine oil immediately after turning off the power, since in this case it is impossible to accurately determine the level of the liquid, because it will be in a boiling state.
Step 5
Remove the dipstick and wipe it thoroughly with the prepared napkin. Lower it back into the hole it was in. This must be done again in order for the readings to be accurate, because when driving, the car is constantly tilted, and, therefore, the oil level is not constant.
Step 6
Remove the spoke from the hole and look at the markings on it. Top notch (MAX) - the oil level in the engine is maximum. Medium notch (MID) - the oil level is close to half. Bottom notch "LOW" - minimum oil level. If the liquid is at the level of the upper or middle cutoff, everything is in order, you can continue driving. If the oil level has dropped to the lower point, the oil must be topped up.
Step 7
Remember, you should add oil to the type that you used initially, that is, if you were filled with mineral oil, then you need to add exactly the same, if you used semisintetic or synthetics (sintetic), then it is important to add this the same, respectively. In addition, it is best to use the same brand of oil each time, since the engines of cars are different and in some cases the engine may not withstand the mixture of oils.
Step 8
If it is necessary to add oil, carefully open the plug, which is located on the engine cover, insert a prepared watering can into the hole and, without dripping oil onto the motor, pour in 1-1.5 liters, then tightly close the plug, check the oil level again with the dipstick and wipe the engine clean with a cloth to avoid dripping.
Step 9
Otherwise, a full-fledged quality control of oils is carried out in special laboratories according to established methods in accordance with existing standards. During the tests, the kinematic viscosity at a temperature of +100 degrees C, the flash point, the content of mechanical impurities, the presence of water, the base number, dispersing ability (ability to retain contamination) and the content of wear elements are determined. When carrying out tests, the total operating time of the vehicle during the entire service life, its mileage, engine oil consumption, and engine failure cases must be taken into account.
