Necessary

  • - aerosol can with paint for headlights (usually paint on plastic);
  • - building hair dryer;
  • - sealant;
  • - primer for plastic;
  • - knife;
  • - abrasive material with different grain size;
  • - polishing pastes;
  • - masking tape;
  • - isopropyl or ethyl alcohol.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you need to remove the headlights from the car.

Step 2

Next, you need to disassemble the dismantled headlights. The headlights can be secured with sealant or glue. The method of disassembly depends on this. Before disassembling the headlamp, it must be pasted over with special tape so as not to scratch the glass or plastic in the process.

Step 3

If you have a headlamp with a sealant, warm it up around the perimeter with a construction hairdryer (carefully monitor the condition of the plastic so as not to cause it to cloud). If - with glue - you will have to cut it off with a clerical knife. Next, we remove the reflector, which we have to paint.

Step 4

Sand the reflector with fine-grained sandpaper. Then we degrease. It is not recommended to use a solvent for this. Isopropyl or ethyl alcohol is best.

Step 5

The next step is priming. To do this, we recommend that you purchase a special primer for plastic in aerosol cans.

Step 6

Next, we apply paint to the reflector from an aerosol can. The paint is applied in 2 layers. From a distance of 20-25 cm.

Step 7

Dry the reflector. With the help of a sealant, we install the glass in place.

Step 8

Then you can polish. It consists of three stages. First, the headlight is processed with sandpaper with a grain size of 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500. Then the surface is treated with polishing pastes. The best variant of the Meguiars paste with markings 83, 84 and 85. The third stage is the final polishing. To do this, use a soft velvet or polishing cloth MATEQUS Proff.
