The additional rack that you have installed to carry the necessary cargo should be removed from time to time. Failure to do so will result in a darker color under the trunk, especially if you often leave it in the sun. The recommended frequency of removal of the trunk is every time as soon as the need for it has disappeared. This does not mean that you need to remove it once a season, namely immediately after the necessary cargo has been transported.

Instructions

Step 1

The trunk should be disassembled in the exact sequence from its installation, only in the reverse order.

Step 2

The disassembly method depends on the model of the rack installed and the mounts on which it is installed.

Step 3

The easiest options for disassembly are considered to be luggage racks with clip and snap fasteners, as well as mounted models. To disassemble them, it is enough to unfasten the fasteners and remove the crossbars or supports. All mounts and rack must be folded into an accessible place for the next installation. Most often, a hinged rack is stored in a standard car trunk so that it is always at hand if necessary.

Step 4

If you go with a trunk only to the country house or to the countryside, and in all other cases a standard trunk is enough for you, then the hinged one can be put on a shelf in the garage.

Step 5

The most difficult trunk disassembly is the model fixed with self-tapping screws. This option is best removed at the end of the season when you need an extra trunk. And this is despite the fact that the paint on the car will look uneven.

Step 6

After the end of the summer or vacation season, unscrew the screws, remove the trunk. Putty all the places from the self-tapping screws and paint with the appropriate shade of paint from the spray can.

Step 7

If the rack mounts are difficult to unclasp or unfasten, then lubricate them with oil and try to remove after a while.
