Motorists in the northern regions of Russia are not by hearsay familiar with the problems of frozen doors. But climatic conditions are changing, and means for defrosting car locks are becoming indispensable companions for all drivers. The methods used to open a frozen trunk depend on how frozen it is.

It is necessary

  • - defroster;
  • - cigarette lighter;
  • - key from the lock;
  • - hairdryer;
  • - matches or a lighter;
  • - plastic bottle or ball;
  • - a friend in a car;
  • - hose.

Instructions

Step 1

Insert the key into the trunk lock. When you feel that it reaches the end, but does not turn, begin to carefully design it. To do this, turn it slightly left and right, as if swinging it. While doing this, tap around and on the lock with your fingers. Do not press hard on the key - it breaks easily.

Step 2

Keep the key under an open fire. For this, matches or a lighter are suitable. When the key is hot, insert it into the lock. The heat from the heated metal will spread over the frozen larva, and it will begin to slowly freeze. Do not turn the key! Heat and insert the key until you can open the lock.

Step 3

Buy a defroster for car locks from the store. If not included, purchase a thin tube or special spout separately. Using these products, sprinkle the defrosting agent into the lock. After that, the lock must be developed with a key.

Step 4

Use a hairdryer if there is an electrical outlet and extension cord nearby (for example, from an apartment on the ground floor). Heat the lock with hot air. Check the doneness periodically with the key.

Step 5

Place a bottle of warm water against the trunk latch. Wait a while. Check the availability with the key. The disadvantage of this tool is that if it is frosty outside, then the water will quickly cool down, and it will have to be changed often.

Step 6

If there is a friend next to the car (for example, a neighbor warming up the car), try warming up the trunk with the exhaust gases. To do this, put a hose of a suitable diameter on the pipe of the neighbor's / friend's car. Attach the other end to the frozen lock. Wear work gloves to avoid scalding your hands when holding the hose. After a while, check to what extent the lock has warmed up.

Step 7

If the tailgate itself freezes, use a wooden or plastic lever. Try to lift the door slightly and insert the existing tool into the gap. Carefully design the door so as not to damage the paint or create dents.
