Car doors refuse to open in cold weather for various reasons. It can be rain, and then a bitter frost, or just a low temperature. What to do in situations like this?
Instructions
Step 1
Tap the door gently where the seal is. Do this with your fist, which should be wearing a glove, mitten, or just wrapped around cloth. After that, lightly swing the door back and forth and try to open it.
Step 2
Try to open the trunk lid and if you succeed, then slam it several times - this will create pressure inside the cabin and allow the doors to be pulled away from the opening. Warm up the door seals with exhaust from a nearby vehicle. To do this, take a regular rubber hose that has an adapter nozzle to slide it over the exhaust pipe. Also, use a wooden object to gently pry the door open and tear off ice and snow deposits.
Step 3
Purchase a special product to help you defrost your car. Apply it around the entire perimeter of the door, then pull the handle sharply and swing the door open. Remember that it is better to have this product in two copies: carry one with you and keep the other in the car.
Step 4
Remember not to pour hot water on the door - this will cause the paint to crack and another layer of ice to freeze. After the door has opened, start the car and let it warm up so that the rest of the doors can move away from freezing. Pre-lubricate them with a defrosting agent, not only from the outside, but also from the inside. In this way, you will minimize damage to doors and seals.
Step 5
After that, remove all moisture from the joints of the doors at the top and bottom, any cloth or even toilet paper will do for this. This will help to avoid further ice formation and repetition of the unpleasant situation. Make sure that after all the actions, the doors are completely closed, because in the cold the locks do not work well, and you can drive through the whole road with the door ajar.
