Harmful substances are constantly concentrated inside the car, therefore, a cabin filter, which is located in the ventilation system, is designed to reduce their amount. This device protects the lungs of the driver and passengers, and also helps to reduce the ingress of contaminants and harmful substances into the radiator of the heater and air conditioner. Therefore, to ensure clean air, the cabin filter must be changed every 30,000 km.
Necessary
- - screwdriver;
- - a new filter.
Instructions
Step 1
Remove first the dashboard section at the bottom, then the glove box and the air supply hose. Disconnect the cabin filter from the screws that attach it to the body of the Opel Astra. Unscrew them carefully, while slightly pulling the filter towards you.
Step 2
Take out the entire glove compartment, but before doing this, do not forget to disconnect the connector from the lamp that illuminates it. Please note that it is not as easy to pull out as it might seem at first glance, since there is a mount at its top that is difficult to open due to strong resistance. In order to simplify this process, it is necessary to pull the glove box towards you and wiggle it from side to side. By removing the glove compartment in this way, you will spend very little time and not damage it.
Step 3
Then disassemble the decorative strip that is attached to the air ducts. These air ducts are designed to warm the air at the level of the front passenger's feet. Such a pad is attached to the Opel Astra car with a pair of swivel clips. Thanks to this modern design, you can remove the pad very quickly without much effort. After removing the glove compartment, you will see three screws that are located on the cabin filter cover itself.
Step 4
Unscrew the screws from the passenger compartment cover and unscrew the fasteners located at the top and bottom. Then find the end of the cabin filter and grab it firmly and start slowly pulling it towards you, while trying to bend it slightly. Here, you will need to be especially careful and careful so that dirt and dust do not fall out of the filter.
Step 5
Clean the old filter from dirt and dust, or take a new one and reinstall it with the utmost care. Pay special attention to the plastic frame - it is very fragile, so do not break it. Slide the filter inward as far as it will go, and then reassemble the remaining structures in the reverse order.
