There are at least three reasons for the formation of an air lock in the engine cooling system: the first is as a result of replacing antifreeze, the second is overheating of the engine and the third is a leakage at the joints of the pipes. But in any case, the circulation of fluid must be restored, otherwise it will be simply impossible to drive a car.

Instructions
Step 1
According to the laws of physics, air, escaping from a liquid medium, always tends upward. Therefore, it will accumulate at the highest point of the cooling system of any engine, creating a traffic jam there, regardless of the brand of the car manufacturer. And before starting the procedure for removing it and restoring the circulation process in the water jacket, we need to determine these places.
Step 2
In cars of the Volga Automobile Plant with rear-wheel drive, air accumulates in the radiator of the interior heater and in the intake manifold. And, if the water pump of the cooling system could not push the antifreeze through the plug, then the pump must be helped.
Step 3
To restore fluid circulation in the water jacket:
- remove the cover from the expansion tank, - fully open the cock of the interior heater, - start and stop the engine in a minute;
- use a screwdriver to loosen the clamp on the upper branch pipe of the heater radiator, - slide the nozzle by hand and, releasing the air from the stove, put it back in place, then tighten the clamp there;
- using a screwdriver, loosen the clamp on the rubber hose connected to the suction manifold fitting below the carburetor;
- release the air by sliding the hose, and after fluid flows out of it, restore the connection in this place.
Step 4
In front-wheel drive cars of Togliatti production, equipped with injection engines, to remove the plug from the cooling system, it is enough to disconnect the pipe from the throttle unit and bleed all the air.
Step 5
Add antifreeze to the expansion tank, close the cap on it and start the engine. Press the accelerator pedal several times, increasing the speed, then let the car run for ten minutes at idle. Warm up the engine to operating temperature and make sure that the circulation in the cooling system is restored. To do this, you can turn on the heater fan. If the air flow is hot, the task is completed.
