If an air lock has formed in the engine cooling system of your car, and you cannot determine the cause, then most likely this happened for one of the following reasons: as a result of replacing antifreeze, due to engine overheating, or there was a leakage between the pipe connections. But whatever the reason, it is necessary to restore fluid circulation, otherwise you simply will not be able to drive your car.

Instructions

Step 1

According to the well-known law of physics, air that is released from a liquid medium tends only upward. Based on this, it becomes clear that it will accumulate in the engine cooling system precisely at the top point, thereby creating a traffic jam there. And immediately before starting the procedure for its removal, you will need to determine these places in order for the circulation process in the water jacket to be restored.

Step 2

if air has accumulated in the intake manifold and in the radiator of the interior heater, then the water pump could not push the plug through the antifreeze, and the pump needs to be helped. In order to restore the circulation of liquid in the water jacket, it is necessary to remove the cover from the expansion tank and open the cock of the interior heater.

Step 3

Then immediately start the engine, and then turn it off exactly one minute later. Using a screwdriver, try to loosen the clamp on the heater radiator pipe, and then, sliding the pipe by hand, release the air from the stove. Then put it back on the same place and tighten with the clamp.

Step 4

Pay attention to the rubber hose located below the carburetor and connected to the intake manifold fitting. You will need to loosen its clamp with a screwdriver. By sliding the hose, release the accumulated air, and after you see that liquid is already flowing, restore its connection. If your car is equipped with an injection engine, then in order to expel the airlock from the cooling system, you will need to disconnect the pipe from the throttle assembly, and then release the accumulated air.

Step 5

Add antifreeze to the expansion tank, then close the cap and start the engine. Press the accelerator pedal a couple of times, while increasing the speed, and then let the car run for fifteen minutes at idle. Wait for the moment when the engine warms up to operating temperature and see if the circulation in the cooling system is restored. You can turn on the heater fan for this, and if its air is hot, then you have coped with the task.
